Das Design Museum Barcelona eröffnet die neue Saison mit der Ausstellung Brick by Brick: Keramik in der Architektur, die im Museu del Disseny de Barcelona (Barcelonas Design Museum) vom 16. Septbember 2016 – 29. Janur 2017 stattfindet. Es ist hier die erste Ausstellung, die sich mit der Verwendung, der Funktion, des Symbolismus und der Ästhetik der Keramik in der Architektur beschäftigt. Die Ausstellung spannt den Bogen über 12.000 Jahre der Tradition bis hin zu innovativen Projekten der Gegenwart. Dabei liegt der Fokus auf mediterranem Gebiet einschließlich des Mittleren Ostens. The Barcelona Design Museum opens the new season in September with the exhibition Brick by Brick: Ceramics Aplied in Architecture, which will open at the Museum del Disseny de Barcelona (Barcelona Design Museum) from 16. Septbember 2016 – 29. January 2017, is the first exhibition to be devoted to the uses, functions, symbolism and aesthetics of ceramic as applied to architecture. The show pans more than twelve thousand years of both tradition and innovation, from the ancient world to innovative projects in the present, focusing particularly on the continuing application of clay, especially in bricks and tiles. Moreover, the show also highlights the symbolic, protective and aesthetic values of this material throughout history, up to the interpretations of contemporary artists like Picasso, Miró, Chillida and Barceló. The exhibition features a selection of more than three hundred ceramic works from around sixty collections, with the loaners including such European museums as the Musée du Louvre in Paris, the Museo Nazinale Romana in Rome, the National Archaeological Museum in Athens, the Ashmonlean Museum in Oxford, the Pergamonmuseum in Berlin and from the ceramic collection of the Museu del Disseny.
